Halsted (or Halstead) Mosquito Forceps, also called mosquito hemostatic forceps or simply hemostats, are surgical instruments designed for clamping blood vessels or other small tissues to control bleeding during surgery or to provide a secure grip. They are so named because they resemble the slender legs of a mosquito. Life science researchers like these fine hemostats because of the secure grip and the ability to manipulate them in confined spaces. Mosquito Forceps have long, thin, and straight or curved jaws that taper to a fine tip. The jaws are serrated for a firm grasp with minimal tissue trauma. The handles of mosquito forceps have a ratchet lock to secure your grasp once it is engaged.

Dumoxel Material Information
Resistant to staining, but slightly softer and less magnetic than stainless steel (Rockwell Hardness measurement of 36). Higher resistance to corrosion due to high content of molybdum and chromium. Very resistant to sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid and other mineral and organic acids. Autoclavable. More likely to bend than to break. The maximum temperature this material can withstand is 350° C.
Dumostar Material Information
Highly resistant to metal fatigue, has great elasticity, and is durable (Rockwell Hardness measurement of 62). Resistant to mineral and organic acids, salt. Autoclavable. More likely to break than to bend. The maximum temperature this material can withstand is 550° C.

Flat-Tip Filter Forceps are surgical instruments designed for the placement, manipulation, or removal of filters like those used in the inferior vena cava (IVC). These filters are placed in the IVC to prevent blood clots from traveling to the lungs in patients at risk of pulmonary embolism. A life science researcher might use these forceps for handling delicate or small samples, for microdissection involving delicate tissue or small structures, or for assembly/disassembly of fragile components. These Filter Forceps are 11 cm (4.3") long with straight, flat jaws.

Nicknamed the "stars and stripes hemostat," the Rochester-Carmalt Forceps are characterized by the longitudinal serrations that run the length of the blade with cross-hatching at the tip. These large, crushing hemostatic forceps are a choice instrument for clamping blood vessels and large tissues or ligating pedicles. The textured blades, along with the scissor like ratchet handles, ensure a strong grip of the clamped tissue with minimal chance of cutting the tissue during a procedure. One application for the Rochester-Carmalt Forceps is an ovariohysterectomy, where this instrument is used for crushing the vessels of the ovarian pedicle.

Liston Bone Cutting Forceps, or simply Liston Forceps, are a surgical instrument for cutting or dividing bones during surgical procedures. Life science researchers might use these robust cutting forceps for gross dissection or tissue dissection, or in plant research to trim stems and roots. Liston Forceps have a heavy construction with long handles and sharp, curved blades at the working end. The blades have a concave cutting edge to focus the cutting force and ensures a precise bone cut. These range from 14 cm (5.5") to 19 cm (7.5") long with straight, curved tips.

Dressing Forceps, also known as thumb forceps or pickups, are surgical instruments characterized by their long, thin handles and serrated tips. They are typically used when dressing wounds where they hold gauze and other dressings. They may also be used during wound debridement to remove infected or necrotic tissue or debris from the wound. They may be used for suturing when needle holders are not accessible. Dressing forceps are designed to grip delicate tissue without causing damage, and they are often used in situations where precision and control are important. These dressing forceps have straight blades and rounded (blunt) tips. They are available in various sizes: 12.5 cm (5"), 15.5 cm (6.1"), 25.5cm (10"), or 30.5 (12") long. These dressing forceps are manufactured with surgical grade stainless steel or premium German steel, making them suitable for sterilization by autoclave or chemical sterilants.
